Year 1
The first year provides residents with well-rounded experiences in traditional internship rotations. Residents will develop their core medical knowledge to learn the necessary skills to provide hospital care. During this year, the resident will hold one (1) half-day of continuity clinic. All first-year residents are expected to pass BLS, ACLS, ALSO, NRP and PALS. These courses will be provided by Corewell Health Lakeland. The program includes the following block rotations:
- 2 Internal Medicine
- 1 Inpatient Pediatrics
- 1 Outpatient Pediatrics
- 1 Emergency Medicine
- 1 Obstetrics
- 1 Gynecology
- 1 Psychiatry
- .5 Orthopedic Surgery
- 1 General Surgery
- 1 Cardiology
- 1 Family Medicine
- .5 Podiatry
- 1 Elective
