A Real World Treasure Hunt

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game! Participants use a GPS-enabled device to navigate to a set of coordinates in hopes of finding a geocache, or container, hidden at that location.


 

Strength Training at Renaissance Athletic Center

The weight room at any fitness facility can seem intimidating. Especially if you don’t know how the machines work or what exercises to start with. But don’t let that stop you from picking up some pounds! Strength training is shown to have a number of health benefits.

 

 

TRX at MagFit

More than a gym, more than a workout…it’s a lifestyle here at MagFit in Stevensville! One of the many daily workouts offered here is TRX – also known as Total Body Resistance Exercise. 

  

 

Battle Ropes

Offered at Wellness WoRX in Niles, Battle Ropes uses weighted ropes while participants take turns doing various exercises working the whole body while moving the rope in wave like motions with the arms.

Soccer, also called football in other countries, is the most popular sport in the world. Here in southwest Michigan people of all ages can participate in recreational leagues year round – with both indoor and outdoor facilities available.

Learn to fly, and do many other yoga poses, on the aerial yoga hammocks available at The Collective. Over several weeks you will move, stretch, hang, and fly; building strength, mobility, and flexibility.

At Tri-ing for Life in St. Joseph they offer the tools you need to start your triathlon adventure. They focus on the beginner and teach you mechanics of running, biking, and swimming. 

 

 

An A"MAZE"ing Workout

A fall favorite of many is finding their way through a maze of corn. Although corn mazes are often seen as a recreational activity for the whole family, it provides a great opportunity to get those extra steps in without even realizing you’re working out.

Girls on the Run 2015

Recently, the Get Fit in the Mitt team joined over 830 girls in 3rd through 8th grade and 220 volunteers at the 2015 Berrien County Girls on the Run 5k running event presented by United Way of Southwest Michigan!

Join the Get Fit in the Mitt team and southwest Michigan’s premier (minor-league) professional men’s basketball team, the Lake Michigan Admirals, who practice yoga to help improve their game on the court. Watch as the team’s yoga instructor, Mary Weirick, leads the basketball players through a basic yoga routine to help increase their flexibility, mobility, and strength.

 

 

Jazz it Up

Move and groove your way to health at the Jazzercise Niles Fitness Center. Jazzercise is a group fitness class that combines dance-based cardio with strength training and stretching for a total body workout that helps strengthen your heart, tone your muscles, and improve your overall health. The dance moves incorporate aerobic exercise, hip hop, kickboxing, Pilates, resistance training, and yoga so you can have fun while getting fit!

 

 

Fun in the Sun: Part 2

Exercising outside is a great way to break up your regular gym routine. This episode showcases unique water-based activities using Lake Michigan as the gym. Two legendary surfers, Jack Nordgren (owner of Waikiki Jack’s Surf Stands in Bridgman) and Ryan Gerard (owner of Third Coast Surf Shop in New Buffalo and St. Joseph) teach you how to stand-up paddleboard and kayak.
