Before your baby is even born, it is important to establish a relationship with your obstetrician, or ob-gyn, who will give you the information and support you need to help you and your baby have a happy, healthy pregnancy. After your baby is born, selecting a pediatrician is the next important step in your child’s healthcare. Schedule a prenatal visit and tour at the BirthPlace

The birth of a new baby is a much anticipated and wonderful experience. The BirthPlace at Spectrum Health Lakeland is designed to make the arrival of your little one the most comfortable and joyous experience possible. Our BirthPlace provides a warm, home-like atmosphere for patients and their family members throughout the spacious labor and delivery rooms, postpartum rooms, and newborn nursery. With two convenient in St. Joseph and Niles, we are here for you. Call 269.687.1436 or visit spectrumhealthlakeland.org/birthplace to schedule your tour at the birthplace. 

Discuss birth plan.

Your birth your way. Our team of obstetricians and certified nurse midwives offer personalized care that puts mom in charge, getting you prepared for the birthing experience you want at the BirthPlace.

Plan for costs with a patient financial counseling.

Understand the costs of delivery before the day, get answers to financial questions and learn about payment assistance plans.If you believe you may need assistance meeting your financial obligations for the care provided at Lakeland, now is the time to meet with a financial counselor. Call 844.408.4103, option 1 to schedule an appointment prior to your delivery. 

Find the right pediatrician.

Be prepared with the right provider for you and baby. Once you’ve returned home with your baby, a nurse will call you within the first few days to offer support and answer any questions you may have about the care of your baby. For specific questions or concerns, contact your pediatrician’s office to schedule an appointment.
