Although a hernia may appear suddenly, hernias often take years to develop. Symptoms may include pain and discomfort when lifting or bending or a bulge in the area which becomes more obvious if you cough or laugh. If not treated, a hernia can get larger and lead to serious health complications—surgery is the only way to permanently fix the problem.

Join general surgeons James Clancy, MD, Michael Webb, MD, and Roy Winslow, MD, as they discuss the different types of hernias, symptoms, and what causes them. Learn what happens if they are not fixed and about the latest treatment options.
