BellaNova Women’s Health Welcomes Nurse Midwives
Jun 22, 2022

(ST. JOSEPH) – Spectrum Health Lakeland is pleased to welcome certified nurse midwives, Erin Beckman and Lindsay Scheffers, to the medical staff. Beckman and Scheffers are seeing patients alongside three physicians and four other advanced care practitioners at BellaNova Women’s Health, located at 3950 Hollywood Road, Suite 100, in St. Joseph.

Beckman earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to joining BellaNova Women’s Health, Beckman served as a labor and delivery nurse at HCA Medical Center of Trinity in Florida and UI Health Hospital in Chicago. Beckman is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Scheffers earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Valparaiso University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University.  She has over 10 years of clinical nursing experience. Most recently she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

“Certified nurse midwives can play an important role through all stages of a woman’s health care journey, as they are not only licensed to provide prenatal and obstetric care, but also routine gynecological care, family planning services, and preventative healthcare” says Benjamin Wood, DO, medical director of obstetrics and gynecology, Spectrum Health Lakeland. “We look forward to welcoming both Erin and Lindsay to BellaNova. We are confident they will provide a holistic, safe, and compassionate care experience for women in Southwest Michigan.”

The care team at BellaNova Women’s Health manages the health care needs of adolescent and adult women including obstetric care, from pre-conception counseling through postpartum management.  Beyond pregnancy, BellaNova providers care for women experiencing many gynecological conditions, including but not limited to abnormal uterine bleeding, symptomatic fibroids, infertility, urinary urgency and incontinence, vulvar conditions and other postmenopausal symptoms.
