Corewell Health South Announces New Human Resource Leadership
Oct 26, 2022

(ST. JOSEPH) - Corewell Health South, formerly Spectrum Health Lakeland, welcomes Stephanie McNeil, MBA, as vice president, human resource business partner. McNeil also serves as vice president, physician and advance practice provider (APP) recruitment, for Corewell Health South and West (formerly Spectrum Health West Michigan).

In her new role, McNeil will serve as a trusted advisor in developing and executing human resource operations for Corewell Health South and continue to drive provider recruitment strategy for the South and West regions.

“Connecting with people is my passion, and it is a rewarding experience to be part of an organization that is making positive impacts on the health and lives of our Southwest Michigan community,” said McNeil. “I am honored and excited to continue leading a team who is working hard to develop inspirational and innovative people strategies with a focus on recruitment, retention, and development. I look forward to seeing the impact we can collectively make on the well-being of our team members and the culture of Corewell Health South for years to come.”

McNeil joined the organization in 2007 as a nuclear medicine technologist and transitioned to manager of physician recruitment in 2012. She was vital in securing over $100,000 in strategic funding for critical regional recruiting efforts and improved retention of resident and fellow physicians by over 50% in 2021. Currently, Corewell Health South is on pace to have a record year for recruiting new providers to Southwest Michigan. Year to date, the health system has signed on 71 new medical staff members, up 23 from last year.

“Stephanie is a genuine, creative leader who is not afraid to take risks, make strategic decisions, and pivot quickly when required‒all qualities which are vital to effectively lead in today’s talent environment,” said Loren B. Hamel, MD, president, Corewell Health South. “We are so grateful for her leadership over the years and look forward to her ongoing contributions and collaboration to the mission of our organization.”
