(ST. JOSEPH) - Corewell Health, the new name for Spectrum Health Lakeland, is pleased to welcome Aubrey Tompkins, CNM, to its medical staff. Tompkins is seeing patients alongside three physicians and two other providers at Southwestern Medical Women’s Health in Niles.
Tompkins earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives & the Michigan Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. In 2013, Tompkins began her nursing career at the Kyembogo Health Center III in Uganda. A year later, she continued her nursing journey at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana and Ascension Borgess Hospital Birthing Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
“I have a passion for establishing trust with my patients and encouraging shared decision-making based on education,” said Tompkins. “Transitioning into this new role will allow me to dedicate more time to partnering with women and other birthing persons in their journey toward wellness.”
Women’s Health professionals manage the health and wellness needs of adolescent and adult women including obstetric care, from pre-conception counseling through postpartum management. Beyond pregnancy, the providers care for women experiencing many gynecological conditions, including but not limited to abnormal uterine bleeding, symptomatic fibroids, infertility, urinary urgency and incontinence, pelvic health and other postmenopausal symptoms.
