Our volunteers assist in a wide variety of service areas. The list below are some of our most common positions for volunteers. If there is an activity not shown that you are interested in or you have questions, please let us know!
Description: Serve in a variety of capacities on a committee, such as scholarships, special projects and fund-raising, with the common goal being to enhance patient comfort at Lakeland.
Requirements: Must possess leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively with all personalities.
Description: Assist with donor registration, escorting donors, serving refreshments and taking appointments for future blood drives.
Requirements: Friendly and accommodating personality; ability to walk.
Description: Assist staff on patient floors by responding to call lights, changing linens, visit with patients, assist with patient discharges and activities.
Requirements: Ability to remain positive in a clinical environment, work with staff, and communicate and interact with patients and their families.
Description: Assist with answering phones, folding, stapling, preparing mass mailings and other projects as needed.
Requirements: Must be organized, able to read and write, and have a good phone voice. Basic computer skills is helpful.
Description: Assist staff in the ER by stocking supplies, preparing treatment room after discharge for the next patient, and visiting with patients. Provide excellent customer service to patients and families waiting for treatment.
Requirements: Positive attitude and good communication skills. Must be able to push occupied wheelchairs and be able to work in a stressful environment.
Gift Shop Clerk
Description: Retail with a reason! Provide customer service by assisting customers with purchases. Proceeds are used as Auxiliary philanthropy as donations to support Lakeland HealthCare.
Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for 4 hours and have excellent customer service skills.
Description: Unpack, label and inventory supplies. Deliver supply items to nursing units and perform other duties as needed.
Requirements: Must have the ability to organize time and complete tasks.
Information Desk Greeter
Description: Escort visitors to their destination, answer phones, provide clerical support and offer a friendly welcome to visitors and staff.
Requirements: Must have a friendly, outgoing personality, be able to read and write, and escort guests to their destination. Some computer skills helpful, but not necessary.
Description: Knit newborn baby caps or blankets for newborns from the comfort of your own home.
Requirements: Must know how to knit, follow directions, and deliver caps and blankets to the hospital.
Description: Assist staff by stocking inventory, performing in-house deliveries and filling orders.
