Collection Instructions

Provide patient with a Saliva Collection Kit (Salivette) containing the Cortisol - Saliva Collection Instructions and ask them to follow the instructions as written
Instruct patient to collect specimen between 11 p.m. and midnight and record collection time
• The Salivette® swab should be placed under the tongue for 2 minutes or until swab is completely saturated
• Swab must be completely saturated to ensure sufficient volume for testing
Instruct patient to return Cortisol - Saliva Collection Instructions with the appropriately labeled Salivette to the laboratory

Causes for Rejection

• Sample not collected using the Salivette® collection device
• Sample visibly contaminated with blood, mucus, food particles or cellular debris

Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes prior to specimen collection
• Do not let swab touch fingers
