Collection Instructions

• Joint fluid aspired by physician, usually collected in a syringe.
• The fluid from the syringe is placed into a Lavender vacutainer by inserting the syringe needle into the cap and allowing the tube vacuum to pull the fluid from the syringe until it stops. The vacuum is designed to pull in the correct amount of fluid into the tube.
• Immediately invert the lavender tube end to end, gently, to mix the fluid with the anticoagulant. Label with Patient Name, DOB, Source/Location.
