Glass slides sprayed with Cytology Spray Fixative or
Plastic container of reagent alcohol (contact laboratory)

Volume

Pref. Vol.: 1 brush rinsed in Cytolyt® Solution or
1-2 fixed smears plus disposable brush in 95% reagent alcohol

Min. Vol.: 1 spray-fixed smear

NOTE: Inclusion of patient clinical information is essential

Collection Instructions

Preferred Method:
• Rinse brush vigorously in Cytolyt® Solution and place brush in Cytolyt® Solution
• Document source on slides, labels and requisition

Alternate Method:
• Using a pencil, label frosted-end of slides with patient name
• Spray or drop a small amount of Cytology Spray Fixative on slides to help spread specimen and prevent drying
• Roll collection brush across the slides
• IMMEDIATLEY place slides and brush in reagent alcohol

The Veggie Van™, a mobile farmers market, served 13 counties throughout Michigan this year, ensuring that free fruits and vegetables were available to individuals who otherwise had limited access. The program, a joint effort of Corewell Health™ and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, launched in 2018 to combat food insecurity and will continue for a sixth consecutive year in spring 2024. Through their partnership, 46,466 free pieces of produce were distributed to Michigan families in 2023.
