NOTES:
• Inclusion of patient clinical information is essential

• Contact cytology if cytotechnologist assistance is required to determine specimen adequacy (must be pre-scheduled with Anatomic Pathology staff)

Collection Instructions

• Contact Cytology for instructions on obtaining needle aspiration material
• Using a pencil, label frosted end of slides with patient's name
• Document specimen source on labels and requisition
• Place a "pea" sized amount of material on the slide
• Use another slide to gently smear the material
• Immediately spray fix with Cytology Spray Fixative
• Express a saline wash of the needle into Cytolyt® Solution Vial
