NOTE: Inclusion of patient clinical information is essential

Collection Instructions

• Puncture vesicle with sterile needle
• Firmly scrape lesion area with saline moistened plastic spatula
• Rinse spatula directly into Cytolyt® Solution
OR
• Spread cellular material evenly on glass slides
Immediately spray slide with Cytology Spray Fixative
• For dry surfaces, such as lesions of skin or vulva, lesion area can be saline-moistened before scraping
• Using a pencil, label frosted end of slides with patient's name
• Document specimen source on slides and requisition

Transportation Instructions

• Place fixed, dried slides face up in a slide mailer
• Maintain fixed specimens at room temperature
