Collection Instructions

• Routine venipuncture
Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 8-10 times
Do not centrifuge, do not remove plasma from cells
• Refrigerate entire Lavender top tube of whole blood
For optimal results, specimen should be received within 48 hours of collection

Room temperature: 24 hours
Refrigerated (preferred): 72 hours
Frozen: Unacceptable

Causes for Rejection

• Frozen or severely hemolyzed sample
• Received in improper collection tubes
