Collection Instructions

• Tube must be filled to at least one-half or greater of its vacuum capacity
• Routine venipuncture
• Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 5-10 times
• Do not centrifuge
• Refrigerate entire Lavender tube of whole blood

Transportation Instructions

• Refrigerated
• Optimally, specimen should be received for testing within 24 hours

Causes for Rejection

• Collection tube not filled to at least one-half of vacuum capacity
• Contains clots
• Hemolysis
