Collection Instructions

• Routine venipuncture
• Allow serum tube to clot
• Promptly centrifuge 15 minutes
• Immediately transfer serum or plasma to separate plastic tube within 6 hours of collection
• Freeze

Remarks

Hepatitis C Virus RNA Quantitation by RT-PCR testing (test code #4185) must be ordered before Hepatitis C Genotyping will be performed. HCV Genotype testing is intended to be used as a follow-up procedure for patients who have been identified with an active HCV infection, with an HCV viral load adequate for HCV Genotyping (over 500 IU/mL).
