Collection Instructions

• If scabies is suspected, scrape the skin from the leading edge of the lesion. Place scrapings in a sterile container.
• Louse identification requires louse in a sterile container or hair, preferably from the back of the neck or behind the ears.
• Pubic louse: Submit eyebrow, eyelash, beard, mustache, armpit, or groin hair in a sterile container.
• Body louse: Place louse or nits from clothing in a sterile container.
