Collection Instructions

• Routine venipuncture
• Patient to be fasting (8 hours)
• Serum samples clot 30 minutes
Promptly centrifuge 15 minutes
Immediately transfer serum to separate plastic tube

After separation from cells:
• Room temperature: 24 hours

• Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens

Remarks

For 12 hours before this test do not take multivitamins or dietary supplements containing biotin (vitamin B7), which is commonly found in hair, skin, and nail supplements and multivitamins
