Fresh fecal sample obtained using collection vial enclosed in the Polymedco OC-Light S FIT collection kit

Collection Instructions

Specimen obtained from random stool specimen:

  • Fill in all required information on the sampling bottle.
  • Open green cap of collection tube by twisting and lifting.
  • Scrape the surface of stool widely or stab it at 5-6 different points with the sample probe.
  • Cover the grooved portion of the sample probe completely with stool sample.
  • Do not clump, scoop or fill the tube
  • Close sampling bottle by inserting the sample probe and twist green cap on tightly. Do not reopen.
  • Place tube into specimen pouch
  • Return the sampling bottle to your doctor or laboratory in envelope provided. Envelopes are preaddressed with the St. Joseph Lakeland Laboratory address.

    Specimen obtained from rectal exam:

  • Fill in all required information on the sampling bottle.
  • Open green cap of collection tube by twisting and lifting.
  • Rub the spiral applicator from the Polymedco kit on the glove 3-4 times in 3-4 places
  • Do not clump, scoop or fill the tube
  • Close sampling bottle by inserting the sample probe and twist green cap on tightly. Do not reopen.
  • Place tube into specimen pouch
  • Return the sampling bottle to your doctor or laboratory in envelope provided. Envelopes are preaddressed with the St. Joseph Lakeland Laboratory address.
