Collection Instructions


• Collect midmorning after the patient has been sitting, standing, or walking for at least 2 hours
• Allow patient to sit 5-15 minutes prior to the draw
• Avoid fist clenching and wait at least 5 seconds after the tourniquet release (if used) to insert the needle
• Collect slowly with a syringe and needle
• Routine venipuncture from patient in a seated position
• Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 5-10 times
• Promptly centrifuge 15 minutes
• Transfer plasma to a plastic tube and freeze within 30 minutes of collection
