Collection Instructions

• Patient should collect semen specimen within 30 minutes before arrival at testing site
• Condoms, even when thoroughly washed or rinsed, contain spermicidal agents and must not be used for specimen collection
• Patient must complete Semen Analysis Information form and submit with specimen

Transportation Instructions

• Maintain semen specimen at constant temperature no lower than 75°F or higher than 95°F
• Specimen container taped to body during transport by patient usually ensures acceptability

Causes for Rejection

Received more than 30 minutes after collection

Remarks

Patient Preparation:
No ejaculation for 2-7 days prior to specimen collection unless physician specifies otherwise
