Collection Instructions

• Tube must be filled to at least one-half or greater of its capacity
• Routine venipuncture
Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 5-10 times

Transportation Instructions

• Do not centrifuge
• Refrigerate entire Lavender top tube of whole blood
• Optimally, specimen should be received for testing within 24 hours
• Differential parameters may begin deterioration after 12 hours

Causes for Rejection

• Collection tube not filled to at least one-half of vacuum capacity
• Contains clots
• Hemolysis
