(ST. JOSEPH) - Corewell Health South, formerly Spectrum Health Lakeland, is pleased to welcome board-certified general surgeon, Stephen Komara, DO, to the medical staff. Dr. Komara joins a growing team of surgical specialists providing care to thousands of people across Michiana with offices located in both Niles and St. Joseph, Michigan.
Dr. Komara earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Florida State University and received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and later joined McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Michigan as a full-time general surgeon.
“During my years as a general surgeon, I’ve learned that preventative and preoperative care is equally as important as surgical care; many conditions we encounter can be prevented with proper health management,” said Dr. Komara. “My goal as a health care provider is to help a patient understand their surgical plans, improve their health, and begin them on a path of healing.”
General surgeons at Corewell Health South can expect to complete hundreds of surgeries each year. All physicians and advanced practitioners are either board-certified or board-eligible.
