Electrophysiology Procedures

Electrophysiologic (EP) Study: This study provides information that is key to diagnosing and treating arrhythmias. The test produces data that makes it possible to diagnose the source of arrhythmia symptoms and evaluates the effectiveness of certain medications in controlling heart rate disorder.

Permanent Pacemaker Implant: A pacing system is made of a pacemaker and a pacing lead. A pacemaker has electronic circuitry and a battery. A pacing lead completes the electrical pathway between the pacemaker and the heart. Pacemakers relieve symptoms of bradycardia (slow heart rate).

Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD): Your heart device contains a very small computer that is powered by a tiny lithium battery. All electronic components of your heart device are sealed inside a metal case made of titanium. It is designed to monitor your heart rate and deliver immediate treatment for any irregular heart rhythms when necessary. The ICD provides two types of treatment or therapy for your heart, bradycardia (slow heart rates) and defibrillation (fast heart rates).

Biventricular Pacemaker/AICD: Your heart device contains a very small computer that is powered by a tiny lithium battery. All electronic components of your heart device are sealed inside a metal case made of titanium. It is designed to monitor your heart rate and deliver immediate treatment for any irregular heart rhythms when necessary. The Bi-V has three types of treatment or therapy for your heart: Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) that helps restore a normal coordinated heart rhythm by delivering pacing therapy to both sides of the heart, bradycardia (slow heart rates) and defibrillation (fast heart rates).

Insertable Loop Recorder (ILR): More commonly known as a Reveal or Linq, allows your heart's electrical activity to be continuously monitored while you are away from your hospital or clinic. The ILR system consists of your inserted heart monitor and the Patient Assistant, a handheld activator that you carry with you to easily record information about any heart-related events you may experience.
