(NILES) – The Lakeland Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine recently became the fifth health system in Michigan, and one of less than 250 in the nation, to become fully accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS).

In order to receive UHMS accreditation, facilities must successfully complete a rigorous assessment of staffing and training; equipment installation, operation, and maintenance; facility and patient safety; and standards of care.

“We are proud to have our Center accredited by UHMS as it further validates our commitment to the highest standards of patient care and safety in the industry,” said Julian Lewiecki, Manager, Lakeland Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.

At the Lakeland Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, a team of dedicated wound care specialists meet with patients suffering from severe wounds to develop a specialized treatment plan focused on speeding up a patient’s healing process.

As specialists in wound care, Lakeland Health medical professionals offer cutting-edge products and treatments to promote optimum healing including hyperbaric oxygen therapy – a proven method to help heal damaged tissue by exposing a patient’s body to 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized environment.

The Lakeland Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is inside the Lakeland Medical Suites in Niles, located at 42 N. St. Joseph Avenue. To make an appointment, call (269) 683-8070.
