Transportation of Specimens
Courier Services:
Lakeland Laboratory has courier service available for specimen transport, test result delivery, and supply delivery. Our couriers service physician offices, Lakeland outpatient service centers, and nursing homes. Transport vehicles utilize storage containers to ensure specimen integrity during transport to the testing facility. Lakeland Laboratory courier staff have undergone training sessions in courier procedures including safe transport, specimen preservation, customer service and specimen tracking procedures.

Result Reporting
Critical test results are called to the Appropriate Licensed Caregiver (ALC) upon completion regardless of time of day. Additionally, per Lakeland policy (Critical Tests & Results Policy Corp-229) all tests ordered STAT are considered critical tests and will be called upon completion regardless of time of day.

Report Delivery Options
The report delivery process of Lakeland Laboratory is the vital link to the information you need to provide patient care.

All outpatient results are sent to the ordering physician. The Laboratory Information System has the ability to print up to three "copy to" physician reports. Lakeland Laboratory has several mechanisms for delivery of test results:

  • Direct computer print out
  • FAX (upon request)
  • U.S. Mail
  • Courier delivery
  • Interface to Physician EMR
  • Phone (upon request)
  • Web based result delivery

PLEASE NOTE: Unexpected interruptions or delays in the receipt of laboratory reports may indicate a problem, and should be immediately reported to Client Services at 269-983-8311 or 800-513-9193.
