Message from the President

October marks one year since our integration with Spectrum Health became official. And what a year it’s been. It’s been a year of learning and growing together. It’s been a year that’s even held a little uncertainty. But thanks to the efforts of so many of you, the integration process continues to go smoothly.

As you know, integration is a journey and will be for the next few years. There’s a lot we’ve accomplished, and there’s still a lot to do, as we blend our organizations into one big family of 30,000 health care professionals throughout the state of Michigan.

Since integration, the team has grown to include our talented colleagues in Grand Rapids who collaborate with us on all sorts of projects, including finance, graduate medical education, human resources, IT, process improvement, marketing and communications, community outreach, and more. There are also key resources and technology that give us an advantage to providing excellent care to our friends and neighbors.

And you’re already familiar with Priority Health. With one million members, and 97 percent of Michigan doctors and 115 hospitals participating in the plan, Priority Health provides great value for insurance costs.

These things are just a few examples of how our partnership with Spectrum Health has brought important advantages to our community in the first year.

What can we expect for the year to come? Soon, you’ll receive a new name badge as we roll out a refreshed logo and brand. We expect to fully integrate Outlook by early 2020. And we will continue to bring our two organizations closer together.

It’s taken heart to get where we are. And compassion, curiosity, courage, and a lot of collaboration. Those values are all mission-critical for the work to come.

So let’s celebrate—the first year of integration and what’s been accomplished. And let’s celebrate the year ahead and all that’s still to come for health care in west Michigan.
