The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid recently awarded four stars to Spectrum Health Lakeland in the latest ratings report.
Spectrum Health Lakeland was awarded four stars in the latest report from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). CMS recently published their star ratings which compare the quality of care at over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country.
CMS uses metrics from the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR) Program to determine star ratings. The overall hospital scores are based on 57 quality measures across seven categories including effectiveness of care, efficient use of medical imaging, mortality, patient experience, readmissions, safety of care, and timeliness of care.
“The CMS star ratings are designed to help patients choose a hospital based on quality performance,” said Kendall Troyer, vice president organizational excellence and quality, Spectrum Health Lakeland. “At Lakeland, we continue to focus our efforts on improving the overall patient experience in a multitude of areas related to safety and quality and this rating is a direct reflection of that commitment.”
