Appreciation Program Relaunches as Heart of Lakeland
Nov 20, 2019

To help recognize heartfelt acts by Lakeland team members, the Above and Beyond program is relaunching as the Heart of Lakeland program.

This appreciation program recognizes team members who bring their heart to work while performing their duties and displaying our values of Compassion, Collaboration, Curiosity, and Courage.

There are three levels in the program: heart token recognition, Heart of Lakeland awardees, and Lakeland Legends.

Heart Token Recognition

Team members can earn tokens from their leaders when they do something heartfelt for a patient, visitor, or fellow team member, whether that’s giving someone a ride to work, buying lunch for someone, or anything in between. A leader may witness the act or award a token when they hear about it later.

The more tokens earned, the larger the award:

  • Five tokens = t-shirt
  • 25 tokens = jacket
  • 100-200 tokens = President’s Award nomination

When a team member receives five tokens, they should turn them into their leader who will help them receive their shirt. The shirt will be awarded by a vice president and a photo will be shared on Pulse NewsLink and LinkUp Lakeland.

Heart of Lakeland

Like the former Above and Beyond program, team members can be nominated for a Heart of Lakeland award. Patients, family, team members, or others can nominate in the following ways listed below. Please include details that describe and support their Heart of Lakeland service. Tell us the full story and be as specific as you can.

All nominees will be awarded a heart badge in Workday. Winners will also receive a gift delivered to their department, email notification, Joint Leadership Council recognition and certificate presentation from President Loren B. Hamel, MD, and a story posted on Pulse NewsLink and LinkUp Lakeland.

Lakeland Legends

The most impactful stories from the Heart of Lakeland program will be featured in an exclusive photo book series, Lakeland Legends. The first volume was released this fall. Click here to read it
