Tips to Improve Mood during Social Isolation
Apr 28, 2020

With all the stress and changes to our daily routines brought about by COVID-19, we must continue to monitor and improve our mental health. Isolation can cause a variety of negative emotions and thoughts. However, small daily changes can improve our moods. Try a few (or all) of the following suggestions daily to connect with others and boost feelings of happiness!

  • Shower and get ready for the day
  • Drink water
  • Clean one thing/space in your home
  • Tend to something living/growing
  • Be mindfully present to…
    • A sound or song
    • A sensory feeling
    • Something you see
    • A spiritual practice
  • Reach out to a human outside your home
  • Do one thing to get your heart rate up
  • Do one thing you’ll be glad you did later
  • Do one thing just because you want to
  • Get in at least one good laugh

Another great way to reach out to others outside your home is to join one of Lakeland EAP’s virtual support groups. Once a week, you’ll have 30-45 minutes to connect and share stories with others who are experiencing similar situations. Click here to learn more
