Lakeland Receives 400 Teddy Bears for Pediatric Patients
Dec 19, 2018 Share

The spirit of giving was in the air again at Lakeland Medical Center as South Bend International Airport delivered more than 400 teddy bears to Lakeland. On behalf of the airport’s annual Bears in the Air program, Mike Daigle, CEO and Executive Director, presented the donations to Lakeland.

In the following months, Lakeland team members will distribute the bears to help comfort young patients of the Pediatric Department, Emergency Department, and Sexual Assault Support Services.

This year, Bears in the Air collected about 2,100 bears to distribute to area hospitals, surpassing last year’s total of 1,950.

“We could not be happier with the results of the Bears in the Air program as we celebrate seven years,” said Mike. “Thanks to our generous community, the program has continued to grow, allowing us to surpass our goal of 2,000 bears. We are touched and grateful.”

Tammy Jerz, OB Manager, accepted the bears on behalf of Lakeland, sharing her gratitude for the generous donation year after year.
