Check-up: Could you have a herniated disc?

by Katie Peden | May 11, 2022

A herniated disc is a common injury that can affect any part of the spine and can cause severe pain and other problems in the arms or legs.

Using proper form when lifting or bending is important and can save you unwanted pain. If the inner section of a spinal disc breaks down and extrudes out it can irritate or compress nearby nerves, causing pain. Learn more from Alexander George, PA  from Spectrum Health Lakeland Neurosurgery as he shares about herniated discs and how to care for them.

The first step in treatment for a herniated disc is to reduce pain and reduce the risk of further injury to the spine. Surgery may be considered if the more conservative therapy fails.

If you or a loved one may be suffering from lumbar disc disease, connect with our team at 269.556.1990 or online, here.
