(ST. JOSEPH) – Lakeland Health has named Lynn Todman, PhD, as Executive Director of Population Health. In this newly created role, Dr. Todman will lead Lakeland’s efforts to partner with other community stakeholders to enhance the health of southwest Michigan residents.

“I am excited that Dr. Todman will help Lakeland think differently about how we can accomplish our goal of improving the health status of all of the members of our community,” said Kenneth O’Neill, MD, Vice President of Clinical Integration, Lakeland Health. “With healthcare reform, we will need new ways to think, collaborate, and act in order to be successful on behalf of our community. Her background in academia, research, and working with community agencies and foundations will be transformative for Lakeland Health.”

A graduate of Wellesley College, Dr. Todman earned Masters and Doctorate degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in city planning and urban and regional planning. She has extensive experience in leadership and research in the areas of health equity, social determinants of health, health impact assessment, urban poverty, and community development. As a research affiliate of MIT, Dr. Todman’s most recent work has included a community-based investigation of the relationship between urban food deserts and community violence, and the development of a strategy for population health management.

Dr. Todman serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Cornerstone Alliance, Edgewater Community Bank, and the Benton Harbor Promise Zone Foundation. She is also a member of the MIT Visiting Committee for the Social Sciences and a Research Affiliate at Community Innovators Laboratory at MIT.
