(ST. JOSEPH) - Corewell Health South, formerly Spectrum Health Lakeland, is pleased to welcome primary care physician, Max Schaefer, DO, to the medical staff. Dr. Schaefer is seeing patients at Spectrum Health Lakeland Primary Care, Longmeadow located at 4 Longmeadow Village Drive in Niles, Michigan. Dr. Schaefer will also serve as a core faculty for the family medicine residency in Niles and provide osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine services to Corewell Health South patients.

Dr. Schaefer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated Magnum Cum Laude. He received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and was an inaugural osteopathic pre-doctoral teaching fellow at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a family medicine residency and osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency. He is a member of the America Board of Family Medicine and American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.

“I’m passionate about providing a non-judgmental space where my patients can feel open to discuss any of their health care concerns; I’m in the business of helping people live their best and heathiest lives regardless of where they are starting from,” said Dr. Schaefer. “I look forward to bringing my skills in neuromusculoskeletal medicine to the community and teaching them about other alternatives for managing pain, fighting illness, and working to heal their bodies.”
