(STEVENSVILLE) – Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling and Psychological Services is pleased to welcome Crystal Payton, APRN, to the medical staff. Payton is seeing patients at two of the practice’s locations in Buchanan and Stevensville.

“Helping people with their mental health is very rewarding. Across the country and very much locally, the demand for this type of care is significantly high,” said Payton. “Through compassion and sensitivity, I want to help as many patients as I can, deal with their challenging conditions.”

With over 30 years of experience in the nursing profession, Payton earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Ball State University where she also completed her Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate. Most recently Payton completed her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Northern Kentucky University.

Prior to joining Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling, Payton served as a certified family nurse practitioner and addiction medicine specialist with Nairad Health in St. Joseph, Michigan. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners Association, and the American Nurses Association.

“Adding Crystal to our team of counselors and clinical social workers is a huge benefit for the community we serve,” said Marcia Wiinamaki, PsyD, director of Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling. “Her expertise and training will help us manage the medical side of mild to moderate mental health diagnoses such as ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.”
