Our Mission
Welcome to Southwestern Medical Clinic Christian Counseling and Psychological Services. Our staff of caring mental health providers is committed to providing compassionate and professional counseling services in a comfortable and confidential atmosphere. All of our therapists are trained at the master’s degree level and beyond. They are licensed by the state of Michigan in their respective disciplines.
We are not affiliated with any specific denomination or church and are respectful of all spiritual perspectives. When appropriate or requested by clients in the therapeutic setting, our staff incorporates spiritual guidance in a way that is consistent with biblical principles and professional ethics.
We care for individuals, couples, families, adults, and children. We can help with psychological evaluations, testing, and collaborative divorce coaching services for divorcing or divorced parents.
Our History
Southwestern Medical Clinic formed in Berrien County in the late 1960s as several mission-minded physicians united to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to area residents. From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown to become one of the area’s primary care networks, offering a variety of services to the community.
In addition to providing medical care to local individuals and families, our physicians serve as medical missionaries overseas in locations such as Asia, Ecuador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and Zimbabwe.
Christian Counseling and Psychological Services formed in the 1970s. Our services encompass a variety of mental health disciplines. Staff includes psychologists, licensed professional counselors, social workers, and clinical interns. Each is trained and experienced in a wide array of counseling and mental health issues.

Financial and Insurance Information
We participate in most insurance programs, and work together with clients to help them understand their benefits and how to apply them toward care for mental health issues. Most clients are responsible for their co-pay at the time of their visit, with the stipulation that the insurance company will pay us directly for the remainder of the cost.
In situations where we do not accept a particular insurance, we help our clients find other more affordable professional services. In addition to our licensed staff, we also have interns who are completing their master’s or doctoral degrees in counseling, social work, or psychology. Our interns are closely supervised by the practice’s director. For those individuals who do not have mental health insurance coverage, or who are unable to afford counseling services, our interns are available to meet these counseling needs at a greatly reduced fee.
