Thank you for joining us at the Corewell Health Southwest Michigan Foundation Gala annual event. We are overflowing with gratitude and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the attendees and supporters of our Healthy Beginnings Gala.
Together, we raised nearly $200,000 for the Maternal and Infant Health Home Visiting Program at the Corewell Health Center for Wellness. These funds will offer a healthy beginning and strong foundation for families-in-need in Berrien County, and create a brighter future for mothers and infants in our community.

More of the Initiative
The maternal and infant health initiative includes care managers and community health workers who walk the journey of parenthood with the soon-to-be parents and their families. Starting from the early stages of pregnancy, the trained care teams will develop strong relationships and trust through meeting regularly with expectant parents and families with young children to address the families’ needs. The home visits between care workers and parents are offered one-on-one from pregnancy through baby’s 18-month birthday to help lay the foundation for the health, education, development, and economic self-sufficiency of the entire family. The team works to connect the family with the needed community resources and support to promote positive parenting.
The program has been proven to help:
- reduce maternal mortality and morbidity.
- improve infant and child health.
- improve school readiness.
- decrease incidence of child neglect.
- promote family well-being and stability.
