Cheryl Kingsley, Service Operation Specialist,
Hanson Hospice Center, understands that it is the little things in life that we do for one another that make our clients lives special, that they will remember and cherish. Ron Frank, Social Worker,
Hospice at Home, has a client, living in her home independently, who has been struggling to eat her meals because she can no longer grip her silverware. She had asked him if there was any way she could get silverware that was easier to hold.
He called various places to see about purchasing these utensils but no one had any readily available. Ron recalled that the Hanson Hospice Center had special utensils so he gave Cheryl a call. He was hoping she could direct him to the supplier so he could get them for the woman in need. Cheryl not only located where they originated but went out of her way to pick them up and have them waiting at the Hanson Hospice Center for Ron to pick up.
Cheryl had also picked up special dishware to accompany the silverware. Ron said, “This was exactly what my client needed and she is now able to feed herself with ease.” It’s what we may take for granted that can, and does, make a big difference – that helps others “delight in the little things.”
